AN OVERVIEW

One of unique aspects of Mahatma Gandhi is that he had not left any subject untouched in his speeches and writings. His thoughts and ideologies, for example, about education, health, rural development, employment, female development, and industrial development have relevance today even. His mind was versatile and of wide range of interest. His Charkha and Khadi had provided livelihood to millions. Charkha enabled seven hundred thousand villages to become self-contained. His Swadeshi doctrine was founded on the basic principle of using indigenous things and thereby provide livelihood and employment to the countrymen. He believed that much of the deep poverty of the masses is due to the ruinous departure from Swadeshi in the economic and political life. He named the poor as Daridra Narayan (God of the Poor). He wanted Swaraj for those toiling and unemployed millions. He wanted a woman to entitle a supreme place in her own sphere of activity as man is in his. His persistence for cleanliness was beyond imagination. He taught the countrymen that Cleanliness is Godliness. These issues have been discussed in the relevant chapters.

Narendra Modi has always been an admirer of Mahatma Gandhi. He often quotes Gandhiji in his speeches. His development model is rooted in Gandhian ideology. He launched the Swachh Bharat, or Clean India, Mission on October 2nd, 2014, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He launched Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY) for financial inclusion of the masses. He launched Make in India campaign to invite foreign companies to manufacture in India on line of Swadeshi doctrine of Mahatma Gandhi. He launched the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) Yojana to support the small entrepreneurs. He launched many schemes and programmes for the women, farmers and cottage industries. He says that every step he takes is for the poor. These issues have been discussed in relevant chapters. These steps are of moving forward to Mahatma Gandhi's path.

This attempt at writing the book titled Mahatma Gandhi to Modi, is to highlight the ideological similarities between Mahatma Gandhi and Narendra Modi for overall development of society, elimination of poverty and Nationalism.

BOOK REVIEW

Following in the foot steps of Gandhi ji, Prime Minister Modi has planned the mission in similar direction. From Swadesh Raj to a Self sufficient nation, that is what Modi ji's Bharat vision is all about.

From the past to future, the connection between Indian spiritual legacy and its legendary political leadership, is expressed

Having lived in Gujarat all my life, I have observed the exemplary over all growth in the state during Narendra Modi's tenure. As a chief Minister, he created the no 1 state of the country in terms of infrastructure, business friendliness, state sponsored facilities such as top notch health care and a stable law and order. The book explains this with primary data research about rural, industrial and infrastructural growth stages. Now he has a tougher task to accomplish with the country.

This book is a must read for developed nations which are looking for successful examples in developing nations so that they can apply them to refurbish weak or failing states. For instance, Gandhi to Modi, shows how India has grown in leaps and bounds especially in Socioeconomic and cultural fields which are directly linked to sustainable national growth.

The authors have immaculately expressed the vision and action taken by two legends, who have placed the nation on the global map. Read this thought provoking book.
